Ecological Design and Permaculture Teaching

La'akea Permaculture Community winter 2010 internship program - assistant instructor/facilitator for peer counseling classes led by Amara Karuna - Puna district, Hawai'i island, Hawai'i.

"Reflective Designing for Teaching and Learning"
An experiential workshop in collaborative designing, applicable to a wide variety of contexts.
Implementations to date: Antioch University Seattle permaculture design course, 2001 and 2000; Orcas Island permaculture design course, 1999.

Rural and semi-rural Ecological Design
Permaculture and keyline consulting and design practice working with a variety of clients' needs, desires and land bases in rural and large-lot suburban contexts. Alternative & natural building - earth/cob, ferrocement, local pole-wood, salvaged materials etc.. Holistic site assessment, designing and implementation of integrated food, water and shelter systems. Appropriate technology systems design and implementation - water catchment, off-grid solar power and related elements.

Urban Ecological Design
Urban lot scale Permaculture design and implementation including integrated 'food forest', Biointensive garden, herbs, berries, composting, native species. Location: Seattle, Washington, USA.

Living Culture Gathering
Design of an experiential exploration of cultural and social change factors and opportunities incorporating council process, large and small group dialog, design and implementation of alternative cultural and social systems, and communal living skills practice (Summer 1999).

Cob & natural building
One week assisting Cob Cottage Co. advanced workshop project at Breitenbush hot springs resort, OR; assorted one and two day work parties in Sonora, CA and at Pragtri Farm, Arlington, WA.

Building material salvage & re-use
Deconstruction of multiple structures and re-use of materials in duplex dwelling, including lumber, metal roofing, and assorted fixtures and furnishings; Whitefish, MT (1991-92).
